What is this project?
The Global Art Mosaic is a humble experiment in the power of art to ignite inspiration and help people feel more connected - to their own creativity, as well as to one another. Who is it for? This is for curious creatives of ALL ages and walks of life who are interested in contributing their unique creative perspective to co-creating inspiring works of public art. NO ART EXPERIENCE NECESSARY! What does it entail? When you sign up to be a part of the project, you’ll receive an art prompt from me, along with FUN mail! Your mail piece will include your own hexagon shaped canvas, as well as a self-addressed stamped envelope for you to return your art piece (which I’ll use as creative material for co-creating a “mosaic” from everyone’s pieces and perspectives!) In the spirit of art sharing, you’ll also receive an art piece from me - a hand signed, professional quality art print, along the mosaic’s theme. Additionally, when I receive your art piece back, I’ll photograph your work and post it to our instagram account where it will live as part of a “digital” mosaic. Follow our social pages to see how the community art mosaic comes to life! I’ll be totally honest - a big part of this project was inspired from how much I LOVE RECEIVING MAIL! I live alone, and the thought of receiving so much inspiration in the mail and then being a conduit for bringing all of your creations together really makes my heart sing! What have you done so far? I beta tested this idea last month at the opening reception of my latest art show, titled “Sharing Awe.” Guests of all ages were invited to reflect on the theme of awe and create an art piece that represented some aspect of awe or wonder to them. I’m so inspired by what they came up with! What is the theme for this current project? The theme for this first initiative is Transformation. In a time when we are experiencing transformation at a global scale, what does this look like and feel like for you on a personal level? What could transformation look and feel like at its highest potential? Keeping in mind that our collective art piece will be donated to a community center, participants are invited to share their unique perspective, collectively co-creating a singular “hive” of thought and feeling that encapsulates this powerful moment in time. What do I get?
As the late beloved Mary Oliver once said, “leave some room in your heart for the unimaginable.” That’s a big intention for me with this project: to simply to allow the process to unfold. |
